Voice AI Startup Bland Raises $50 Million After Rejection From 180 Investors

Voice artificial intelligence startup Bland has secured $50 million in fresh funding despite facing rejection from approximately 180 investors during its early fundraising efforts.
The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2023 by Isaiah Granet and Sobhan Nejad, announced the completion of its Series C funding round led by Dell Technologies Capital. The round also attracted participation from HubSpot Ventures, Archerman and Tribeca, alongside existing investors.
The latest investment pushes Bland's total funding to more than $100 million since its launch less than three years ago.
Bland specialises in AI-powered voice agents designed to handle complex and lengthy phone conversations. Unlike many competitors that rely on third-party AI models, the company says its platform is built entirely on proprietary in-house voice technology. The company currently processes more than 3.5 million calls each week and handled over 175 million AI-powered phone calls during the past year. Its client base includes more than 250 enterprise customers across sectors such as healthcare, insurance and financial services.
The founders were inspired to build the company after witnessing challenges faced by family members trying to access critical services through traditional customer support systems. Their goal was to create AI voice agents capable of managing long and complicated interactions rather than simple scripted conversations. Speaking about the company's early fundraising struggles, Granet revealed that many investors doubted the future of phone-based communication and questioned whether voice technology would remain relevant. Despite those concerns, Bland has continued to grow rapidly and attract major enterprise clients.
The company plans to use the new funding to expand research and development, grow its engineering team and increase its presence in highly regulated industries such as healthcare and financial services.
As businesses increasingly explore AI-powered customer service solutions, the voice AI market is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years, creating new opportunities for companies operating in the space.
