Ghana-Caribbean Week Ends with Call for Stronger Economic and Diaspora Partnerships

Ghana’s inaugural Caribbean Week has concluded in Accra with renewed calls for stronger economic, cultural, and diplomatic cooperation between Ghana and Caribbean nations.
The week-long event ended at Alisa Hotel and brought together government officials, diplomats, business leaders, investors, and members of the Caribbean diaspora. The programme was organised by the President’s Special Envoy to the Caribbean, His Excellency King Kwasi Kyei Darkwa, in partnership with the Ghana Caribbean Association.
Speaking during the event, King Kwasi Kyei Darkwa said the initiative was designed to move beyond historical connections and create practical opportunities for trade, tourism, investment, and cultural exchange.
He emphasised the need to position Ghana as a gateway for Caribbean businesses seeking opportunities across Africa while also strengthening collaboration in sectors such as the creative economy and blue economy.
Representing the Chief of Staff, Seth Terkper described the programme as a timely platform for translating shared aspirations into tangible economic opportunities. The event featured cultural performances, culinary showcases, art exhibitions, networking sessions, and business forums focused on tourism, investment, and creative industries.
Organisers expressed optimism that the programme would become an annual event aimed at deepening engagement between Ghana and Caribbean countries and fostering stronger diaspora connections.
