From Market Stall to Storefront: Ama's Story
A story of grit
Ama started in 2015 with a single table of fabrics at Kejetia Market. Today she runs a boutique with eight employees.
The turning point
When she began reinvesting profits and tracking her sales in a simple notebook, she understood which fabrics sold fastest — and stocked accordingly.
Going digital
Ama adopted mobile money for payments and started posting her designs on social media. Orders came in from Accra and even abroad.
Building a team
She trained two apprentices who became full-time tailors. Delegating freed her to focus on sourcing and customer relationships.
"Start small, but think big. Every cedi reinvested is a seed," Ama says.
Her journey shows that disciplined reinvestment and embracing technology can transform a humble start.
